KARIMAH HASSAN
About
Karimah Hassan is a London-based multidisciplinary artist whose work merges spirituality, consciousness, and storytelling through painting and spoken word. Rooted in her Welsh, Yemeni, and Bangladeshi heritage, Hassan’s practice explores identity, culture, and the human experience. With an MA in Architecture from the Royal College of Art, Hassan brings a community-driven and immersive approach to painting.
Hassan has exhibited at Maddox Gallery, Selfridges, and Sarabande Foundation, London, and has undertaken numerous collaborations, including with the Barbican, London and Burberry. As an artist-in-residence at Sarabande, founded by Alexander McQueen, Hassan created Strangers Yearbook, a globally recognised project resulting in a published book and a permanent installation in London’s King’s Cross. Hassan was recently an artist-in-residence at Rosewood London in collaboration with Frieze 2024 and is currently an artist-in-residence at The Standard, NYC, where her work is on display.
